Our Process

How We Work Together

You do not need to have everything organized before we talk. The process starts with understanding what is in front of you now: the questions you have, the decisions that need attention, and how the different parts of your financial life fit together.

Understand

We begin with context: what prompted you to reach out, what you are trying to accomplish, and which decisions need attention. The goal is to understand your situation before deciding what matters most and what can wait.

Organize

We gather the relevant details of your financial life and identify how the pieces connect. The goal is to see what matters, what is missing, what may need action, and what can wait before we decide what should happen next for you.

Decide

We work through the key decisions together. I explain the reasoning, tradeoffs, and assumptions behind each recommendation so you understand what I recommend, why I recommend it, and what happens next.

Keep Current

For ongoing clients, the work shifts from building the plan to keeping it current. We revisit decisions as life changes, and between reviews I watch for changes that may matter even when they do not announce themselves as decisions.

The first stage of the work is the most intensive: gathering information, defining priorities, and establishing where things actually stand.

After that, the work shifts to maintenance and judgment. Most of what I do between meetings is noticing what changed and deciding whether it matters for your plan.

My role is to stay accountable for the parts that otherwise go unowned.

What You Can Expect

  • You will know the scope and fee before work begins.
  • Recommendations will be explained in plain language, including the tradeoffs behind them.
  • If a one-time engagement is enough, I will say so.
  • My role is not only to give advice, but to keep the important parts from going unowned.
  • All meetings are virtual.
